What is feminism?

This is in response to the Feminism 101 post from a couple weeks back. I answered the first three questions below. I didn’t answer them in my usual straight-up prose, but actually let my imagination roam free and wrote from my heart. Because feminism means that much to me!

What does feminism mean to you?

Feminism is a space where I can finally relax and be myself.
Feminism says I can be bold and proud and exhilarated and selfish and it’s all good and I should be.
Feminism is a land of women where you can be feminine and strong and laugh and not worry about wearing bras and annoying things like that.

What is a feminist?

Someone who believes that women can do anything they put their mind to.
Someone who loves strong women!
Someone who thinks women who think are a good thing.

What makes a woman a feminist?

Anyone who wants to be a feminist can be a feminist.
Anyone who respects women can be a feminist.
Anyone who doesn’t let others walk over them or are ready to learn how to not let others walk over them—then they are feminists!
