So this has been a really rough period for everyone. And for those less fortunate than us -- those in harder financial situations or homeless -- or our incredible medical professionals, they're really having a challenging time.
And it's hard to believe that it's going to get worse before it gets better.
As I sit here writing this, pondering what words of wisdom I could possibly leave you that may be helpful, here is what I came up with:
** STAY CONNECTED **
** STAY CLOSE **
** BE EASY ON YOURSELF **
** STAY CONNECTED **
It's especially important in this time to be extra connected to our loved ones. Whether it's more phone calls, video calls, zoom calls (!), FaceTime, whatever -- texts, all of it -- do stay in close touch with people.
Even video chat hangouts with coworkers at the end of the day is also highly recommended -- not necessarily to discuss work but just to stay connected and socialize!
** STAY CLOSE **
Right now I'm especially lucky to have 1 or 2 kitties that I can cuddle and pet and will make me burst out laughing at random times throughout my work day. For those of us who may be single or living on your own right now try to stay closely connected with at least 1 person. Is there 1 person you can go take walks with? Or at least who will check in on you and you on them?
** BE EASY ON YOURSELF **
Especially for those of us -- you know who you are! -- myself included, who already tend to be hard on ourselves before the current situation, it may be very tempting --again myself included-- to be even harder on ourselves now. As irrational as that may sound.
And so I am asking -- requesting -- nay, requiring of you, to be extra extra easy on yourself during this time. Find something-- again it can be small-- each day that gives you A Burst of Joy. Maybe it's an online zumba dance class. Maybe it's talking with an old friend. Or doing a little creative DIY artsy project. Like creating a new Word of the Day card:
I will be creating more online journaling/self care gatherings! I look forward to seeing you then!
