I don't know about you, but it's been a busy week or two or three. And the summer's just flying by before my eyes. Work has been as busy as ever. Nana's passing and preparing for the service certainly took time, and mostly an emotional toll. I did manage to squeeze in some fun amidst the duties and chaos:
Getting up to Portland with a long time girl friend, lounging in her beautiful bright apartment, sipping oatmilk lattes and seeing the ocean
Zipping around in my adorable neighborhood with my new E (electric) scooter! Soo fabulous!
Speaking of my cute neighborhood -- another addition that makes me very, very happy is a new veggie (and mostly vegan) cafe called Life Alive. They are from the owners of Tatte Bakery and Au Bon Pain (smart people). The decor, food, service is all just wonderful. And now that I think of it, I realized too that their set up is really smart, like a lot of the restaurants in Austin, where it is a sit down place like a real restaurant but very comfortable and casual atmosphere like a cafe and you just order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Brilliant! They also compost and have delicious healthy creative veggie options which are to die for.
Whew OK! Now that we have all the goodies out of the way, let's tackle some juicy stuff shall we?
Last week we worked on thinking about a small, exciting new boundary. It's not too late to do those journaling prompts as well if you'd like. You can even jump around the different week's exercises; they don't necessarily need to be done in order. This week we will be wrapping up BOUNDARIES month! We'll be looking back and thinking about all that you've learned about yourself from the perspective of boundaries or lack thereof in your life.
And there's definitely no blame or judgment or accusations here! Just an overall clear assessment of where you're currently at, so you can think best how to move forward. Sound good? :-)
One other little note on Boundaries:
I'd like to encourage you to be creative in how you think about the concept of boundaries as well. It does not have to be the traditional form of barriers between you and an external situation. It can even come in the form of taking good care of yourself --- whether it's figuring out your long weekend plans with family or friends and making sure it works well for your and your happiness, or squeezing in exercise during the workweek and figuring out the little details. Those do count as boundaries as well. You are placing a boundary between you and your wonderful family and friends or work who want more of you, and your own emotional and mental health.
This is so important and something I dive into much more in depth with practical exercises in my upcoming class: Creating Boundaries!
