I am really excited to be here writing to you today because I have some big news to share!
But before I get into it I want to talk about taking the leap and really going for a big dream or goal. It can often feel really scary. Or even impossible. But I think a big reason why we don't even consider going for it in the first place is because we're scared.
Here are my top 4 ways we can take the big leap towards our big goal or dream today.
Top 4 Ways to Start Going for Our Dreams Today:
1. First, you need to pick one dream.
It always helps to be very clear when we're trying to achieve something. This may seem a bit obvious, but it's true! We have so many goals and dreams bouncing around our head it can be hard to choose or move forward on any one. So, go ahead and pick just one to focus on first. It doesn't mean the other ones won't ever happen -- we'll just get to them after. It can be the one most important to you, or just the one you feel is most doable at this point in time. It doesn't need to be huge. We can work up to the bigger ones!
Many times it is really our fears that hold us back from taking the first concrete step towards our dream. The first step is to be aware of what those fears are. Only then can we move forward from them. Journal on what you might be fearful of. Judgments from friends or family for pursuing it? Fear of failure? Fear of succeeding? None of it's silly, though you may feel silly. Fear is normal. But it's important to acknowledge and be aware of it in order to move on.
3. Rewrite a new story.
Now that you have a better sense of what your fears are around going for your goal, let's rewrite a new story to replace that fear. For example, if it's fear of judgment from others, we can change the story to: "This is my life. As much as I love my family, I get to go for my dreams, no matter what anyone else may think. I get to do this for me." Rewrite your own version. Say it over and over as a daily affirmation.
4. Pick one action you can do today.
What is one small step you can take towards your goal today? It can take just 10 minutes of your time. For example, if your dream is to finally get to travel to Italy and eat amazing Italian food and zip around on a Vespa, you could do some research online on when is a good time to visit or look at flight deals. This one small step will also serve as inspiration to get you to take the next step and the next. While you're at it, pick out your next action step and when you will do it by. Put it in your calendar!
Try out these 4 steps and let me know how it goes in the comments below!
My big news is... I booked a trip to Hawai'i!
After 8 years I am finally going back. It's been something I've been wanting and dreaming about but just never pulled the trigger. There have been many reasons why I kept telling myself why it just wasn't possible or realistic. I told myself I was being selfish, and now I'm in a relationship I need to think about what both of us want. Or the lack of money; or when I did have the corporate job, it was a lack of time.
What I finally realized that, not just that life is too short (I'd rather think of my life being full), but that this supposedly far-off impossible dream, was actually really close at hand. It was really my own limiting beliefs and stories telling me and assuming it was not possible, before I even looked into the practicalities (for example, really good flight deals!).
It was also assuming that I couldn't afford the trip, instead of thinking and exploring how I can make the money for a really amazing trip. (I really recommend You Are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero.) And trusting in my abilities and the value of my work and business. That women really appreciate and value what I put out. That it is unique and special and needed.
And the same is true for you. Your dream is important and might not be as impossible as you might think.
So before you simply write off that far-off dream you have, take it out, dust it off and go through the 4 steps above and see what you come up with!
Always remember... YOU are worth it.
